Willke Track Service acquires patent on welding carriage ColdHeat 200

Willke Track Service has designed the welding carriage ColdHeat 200 together with the companies Ortec and Kjellberg. With this development we have revolutionised the maintenance of covered rail systems, because thanks to the ColdHeat technology, welding work can be carried out faster, cheaper and safer in the future.

Track maintenance with the ColdHeat 200

Instead of having to replace worn tracks at great expense, railway systems can be maintained automatically using the new welding process. Stressful shutdown periods or extensive planning are therefore no longer necessary. This is made possible by welding using inductive heat up to 200°C. Damage to elastic materials in the already covered rails is thus prevented. Furthermore, welding parameters are recorded with the help of an integrated computer. Consequently, the traceability of the entire welding process is guaranteed.

In order to inform the track construction industry about the functions of the welding carriage, we will present the carriage at the InnoTrans in Berlin from 20.09.2016 to 23.09.2016. Our technical director Ulf Langschwager will be available to answer questions from visitors to the fair.

Perfect teamwork of the Willke Group during construction of the Rethebrücke

Contract from the Hamburg Port Authority: new construction of the Rethebrücke.

In the project for the new construction of the Rethebrücke bridge, our corporate group was able to prove that it is capable of handling even complex and unusual tasks thanks to the acquisitions made in recent years. Currently Willke rail construction GmbH & Co. KG is building the railway connection for the new Rethebrücke in the port of Hamburg on behalf of the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA). With a contract value of approx. 5.9 million euros, this project not only includes track and cable civil engineering services but also extensive LST and TC services.

The HPA also asked us to carry out a load test of the bridge centre using a locomotive and two Res wagons. As part of the group of companies, Willke Logistics GmbH was able to provide the necessary equipment. At the beginning of the year, the HPA had already purchased ten Res and five Fas wagons. The only problem posed the missing connection of the new track to the existing tracks. This situation prompted us to lift the locomotive and the Res wagons with a 200-ton mobile crane from the existing track into the construction track. However, this required precise planning and coordination between the individual companies, especially for the Res wagons, as the bogies had to be specially secured.

Precise work.

In the morning of the 25.05.2016, the locomotive and the two Res wagons could be lifted into the construction track faster than expected. In between, the entire manpower of the employees was needed to move the Res wagons and to carry out the high-precision work. Finally, the two Res wagons were loaded with crane weights in order to achieve the load required by the HPA. After four hours, the port railway was able to resume operations as planned.

In the end, everything worked fine except for a few small scratches on our locomotive. Work with pinpoint decision on the dot. The HPA’s project management team praised the way in which we handled this unconventional task. And finally, the history of the new Rethebrücke bridge will be forever linked to the fact that the first locomotive to cross the bridge had a red dot on it.

Opening of the location East in Dresden

New branch of Willke rail construction GmbH & Co. KG: Location East in Dresden.

We are very pleased that, since the 01.06.2016, we were able to open another branch office with the “Location East” and are also looking forward to realising further exciting railway construction projects together. Therefore, Willke rail construction now serves the German market with four locations in Germany. A special task for the future will be to coordinate the locations in Wittorf, Braunschweig, Manching and Dresden and to expand them into a large network.

The location East in Dresden can naturally also rely on the support of the corporate group. The three other specialist areas of the group of companies provide support in: logistics, welding technology and overhead line construction. Thus, the Willke group of companies continues to grow. The growth is always based on the company philosophy of operating successfully on the market as a compact full-service provider with small and flexible organisational units. Thomas Spindler will take over the technical management on site.

SES Logistics becomes Willke Logistics

New name for SES Logistik: Willke Logistics GmbH.

In September 2014 we were able to win SES Logistik GmbH with the logistics division for the Willke corporate group. We are proud that we can now integrate the competence and infrastructure of SES Logistik GmbH into our group of companies. The Willke Group should now also be reflected in the company name. Therefore, SES Logistik GmbH will become Willke Logistics GmbH. In order for Willke Logistics to get off to a good start, ten Res trolleys and five Fas trolleys have been purchased, which are not only used within the group of companies but are also rented out externally.

In addition to your current contact person, you can now send your inquiries by e-mail to logistics@willke.com.

Opening of the location “Mitte” in Braunschweig

Together with the new colleagues, exciting railway construction projects will be implemented at the central location in the future. “We are convinced that the opening of the new Mitte location in Braunschweig is the next necessary step in the healthy growth of the group of companies,” says Niklas Willke, Managing Director of the Willke Group. This is why, with immediate effect, precise track-related services will be offered at over three locations in Germany. Additionally, the Scandinavian market is served by Willke Danmark ApS rail construction in Fredericia (Denmark). New member of the group: Willke Systems GmbH & Co. KG

New foundation of the Willke Systems GmbH & Co. KG in March 2015.

As of the 01.03.2015, with our new company Willke Systems GmbH & Co. KG, we took over the employees and fixed assets of Strukton Systems and continued with the existing framework agreements. With effect from the 17.04.2015 we have also received the prequalification “Catenary systems 15kV – Standard” from Deutsche Bahn AG and look forward to tackling the new tasks together with you.

For more than 35 years we have been active as a medium-sized family business in railway construction, both in Germany and in Scandinavia. The overhead contact line sector is therefore well known to us and a good addition to our service portfolio.

The Willke Systems GmbH & Co. KG is to operate as an independent company in the overhead line construction and maintenance sector and continue to distinguish itself as a reliable service provider. Mr. Nenad Jovic – already known to you as your contact person at Strukton Systems – will continue to be available for you as usual. Mr. Kai Schmoll has left Willke Systems GmbH & Co. KG at his own request in order to take on new challenges. We wish him great success on this path.

In the future it will also be our goal to get many new ideas on the road in order to further expand our services for you with an additional plus in safety.

Advisory Board for Willke Holding GmbH

Since January 2015, there has been an advisory board for the corporate company.

In recent years, the company founder Roger Willke has withdrawn more and more from the company. Finally, he handed over the management to his two sons Moritz and Niklas Willke on January 1, 2015. They are supported by Torsten Basedow.

So far, the inter-generational cooperation has been very constructive and productive. For this reason, both the founder’s decades of experience and the young entrepreneurial spirit of his successors will be incorporated into future decisions.

This is why an advisory board for the Willke group of companies was established at the same time as the change in the company’s top management took place. The advisory function of the board with Roger Willke as chairman is flanked by the expertise of a Berlin lawyer. Added to this is the comprehensive industry knowledge of an entrepreneur friend of mine from Hamburg.

The new company structure is intended to keep the Willke Group on the right track in the future.

New member of the group: SES Logistik GmbH

SES Logistik GmbH now belongs to Willke.

For more than 35 years we have been active as a medium-sized family business in railway construction, both in Germany and in Scandinavia. During this time the field of logistics has increasingly become a key competence of our company. With the takeover of SES Logistik GmbH we want to further expand our know-how and infrastructure.

SES Logistik GmbH will remain an independent company. As before, it is to operate as a reliable service provider in railway logistics. The contact persons of SES Logistik GmbH you already know will continue to be available for you. The 24-hour on-call service will also remain available under the number 0151/656 22 716.

The fields of activity of both companies complement each other perfectly and offer new potentials in their interaction. For example, we have already not only increased operational safety through refurbishment and upgrading measures at the railway facility in Ludwigslust but can also significantly expand and improve the possibilities for handling materials and containers (combined transport).

In the future our aim will continue to be to get many new on the road. This way, we want to further expand our services for you with an additional plus in safety.

Willke Group establishes welding department

Since 01.01.2013 Willke Track Service has its own welding department.

In the course of a future-oriented move of the Willke Group, a welding department was founded on 01.01.2013. Consequently, welding work in Germany and Scandinavia can be carried out within the group in the future.

For this reason, five welding teams and two construction supervisors will be working for the company from spring 2013 under the management of Ulf Langschwager. In addition, the department has its logistically favourable headquarters in Reinbek in the east of Hamburg. This enables us to be available for German as well as Scandinavian clients in a timely manner. Continue reading “Willke Group establishes welding department”
